Art Chapter: Odin

Good morning everyone, meet The Odin Project.

This will be my long-term art project for the future.

So, who and what is Odin?

Odin is the name of my character, Odin the Wanderer, inspired by Norse mythology as you might have guessed. He is a little explorer who travels across different worlds and landscapes: from scenes with flying whales drifting through the sky, to mystical pink forests filled with fluffy clouds, and even riding soft, furry sheep shaped like mushrooms.

When I think about the art direction I want to take, I picture fantasy landscapes, but they often feel empty without a “stick salesman,” a term used in concept art to describe that little wizard or traveler you often see in the distance. In my case, that “stick salesman” will be Odin, a child exploring strange and beautiful worlds.

Adding a character to a fantasy landscape is important for several reasons. For me, it helps with storytelling and gives a sense of scale to the drawing, making the world feel more alive and real.

Even though I have a clear vision of where I want to go with this project, I do not yet have the skill to fully bring it to life. But that is exactly the point. Having a clear goal helps me know what I need to learn and practice to make it real.

I wanted to share this with you all today, the beginning of The Odin Project and the start of something I am really excited about.

old art work.
